After years at ABC, the veteran TV executive set sights on new viewers and new heights for The CW. Mark Pedowitz was recognized as part of 2018's Variety500 presented by verizondigital
Since Pedowitz took the helm as president of The CW in 2011, the network has brought in male viewers with a slew of DC Comics–inspired superhero dramas while retaining women with nighttime soaps such as Warner Bros. TV’s “Riverdale” and female-skewing hour-long comedies including CBS Television Studios’ “Jane the Virgin” and “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.
” Under Pedowitz, it has also embraced multi-platform distribution. He made his mark during a nearly 20-year run at ABC, signing on in 1991 as senior VP of business affairs and contracts and rising through the department ranks, eventually tapped to lead Disney’s TV production arm, Touchstone Television . Early in his career, Pedowitz worked in business affairs for MGM.
