... [+]The S&P 500 is losing another one of its few female CEOs: Marillyn Hewson, the chief executive of defense contractor Lockheed Martin, announced Monday that she will step down as CEO on June 15.
At that time, Hewson will become the company’s executive chairman, and into the CEO suite will step Lockheed board member and American Tower chief James Taiclet. “The timing is right not only for our company, but for me personally. I have worked full-time since I was 16,” Hewson wrote in aon Monday. “So, when the transition is complete, I am looking forward to this new chapter of life with my husband James and our sons, who have been such supportive partners on my career journey. The future for all of us is bright.”
Hewson first joined Lockheed as an industrial engineer 35 years ago; she became Lockheed’s first female CEO in 2013, and since then has been consistently listed as one of the most powerful women in the world, ranking No. 10 on the
