Marcus Sasser takes control as No. 1 Houston avoids upset bid from South Florida
Cedric Lath is the newest Houston Cougar during warmups before the start of the first half of a NCAA mens basketball game at the Fertitta Center on Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2023 in Houston.Sasser scored a career-high 31 points, igniting a second-half rally as top-ranked Houston survived a close call with an 83-77 victory over South Florida at Fertitta Center.
It took seven minutes into the second half for the Cougars to respond and avoid an upset just two days after moving back into the No. 1 spot. The 77 points were the most allowed by the Cougars this season. USF shot 49 percent and the Bulls outrebounded UH 36-30.
