INEOS founder Sir Jim Ratcliffe is edging towards acquiring a minority stake in Manchester United after Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al-Thani withdrew from the race to buy the club.
Manchester United have yet to make any official announcement as to the results of the 'strategic review' but it is widely expected Sir Jim Ratcliffe will enter the boardroom.
Earlier this month, the INEOS founder was thought to have restructured his bid and was instead proposing to purchase a minority stake in United worth 25 per cent of the club. Despite this news, any hope the process may be coming to a conclusion could be wide of the mark.
