This year marks the 25th anniversary of Manchester Christmas Markets
Manchester Christmas Markets will soon be opening across the city centre - with the countdown now truly on for the 2023 return of the festive extravaganza. The wooden huts have started to be built this week, and Manchester Council has now confirmed everything we can expect from this year's Christmas markets - and all the locations being used.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the very first Manchester Christmas Market - which took place in 1998. A quarter of a century later the markets continue to attract Mancunians and visitors from across the UK in their thousands to fill up on festive treats. The Manchester Christmas lights trail will also be back - illuminating the city centre throughout the festive season with giant walk-through baubles, a Manchester bee, and of course Santa Claus himself. The iconic Big Santa will be keeping a watchful eye on everyone for his naughty or nice lists, from his perch on high in front of Central Library on St Peter's Square.

Everyone knows Manchester is the city that Santa loves best and we just can't wait to share all the Christmas fun and festivities with everyone."Winter Gardens - aka Piccadilly Gardens Piccadilly Gardens will again be transformed into the Winter Gardens with a mix of craft and gift stalls alongside food and drink.
Visitors can check out the Manchester Shop, the continental cheeses, and even alien sculptures as you wander the stalls and take in the festive atmosphere. King Street Known for its array of foody stalls, expect authentic Italian deli, Ballaro with fresh cannelloni and arancini, while El Gato Negro tapas will bring some Mediterranean menu flavours to Christmas shoppers for the first time with a seated area outside their restaurant on King Street.
