The carnival is taking place all weekend with live music in Alexandra Park.
Music, colour and celebration was the order of the day as Manchester celebrated its annual Caribbean Carnival.
Hundreds of people took to the streets of Moss Side and Hulme for a vibrant parade in and around Alexandra Park.Try MEN Premium for FREEThis year's event marks the city's 51st carnival, with it's half century being celebrated last year. But there is also another important anniversary being marked this year, as it is 75 years since the arrival of the Windrush generation.The carnival is estimated to attract up to 60,000 visitors each year, and is a celebration of community, heritage and music with more music, delicious food and good vibes in store for the rest of the weekend.
Organisers have arranged eight stages of entertainment throughout the weekend, with British-Jamaican dancehall artist Stylo G announced as the main headliner. More musical artists, keynote speakers and members of the Windrush generation and their descendants are expected to appear throughout the weekend.
