A Lancaster County man should feel lucky to be alive after shooting at police officers during an hours-long standoff last year, a judge said Thursday while sentencing him to years in prison. Shawn Stryker, 51, of Columbia, fired two shots at Lancaster County police officers Jan. 3, 2021, during a domestic disturbance at a West Hempfield Township home, according to the Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office. Prosecutors said he also pointed a gun at his girlfriend during the incident.
A Lancaster County Special Response Emergency Team officer shot at Stryker when he came out of the home with a rifle drawn and pointed at police. The shot missed Stryker, and he was arrested without injury after a 10-hour standoff.
