Man United face FC Copenhagen in the UEFA Champions League at Old Trafford on Tuesday night.
With Casemiro unavailable through injury, all eyes were on Sofyan Amrabat when Manchester United rocked up at Bramall Lane to face Sheffield United on Saturday evening.
Following the half-time interval, though, Erik ten Hag's side started to go up through the gears, regularly knocking on the Blades' door in the hope of adding to McTominay's first-half strike. It was not up until just past the hour-mark, however, that they finally started to turn the screw and put Paul Heckingbottom's side under sustained periods of pressure.
Once he was sent on by Ten Hag, United immediately secured control of the game, enjoying plenty of the ball, which resulted in a fair share of chances being created. Eriksen completed 24 of his 28 attempted passes, 11 of which were progressive. He ended the game with an 85.7 per cent passing accuracy.
Last season, of course, he formed an excellent partnership with Casemiro at the base of the midfield, often being the link between the defence and the attack. He was the shuttle that progressed the ball between both boxes. Therefore, such was the impressive nature of the way Eriksen helped United wrestle control of proceedings at the weekend, the former Brentford man should be in line for a start when FC Copenhagen visit Old Trafford in the Champions League on Tuesday night. Deployed alongside Amrabat, who is expected to start in the defensive-midfield berth again, covering for the suspended/injured Casemiro, Eriksen should be able to increase United's levels of control from the start.
