The man approached the boy at 12:20 p.m. in the bathroom of a Wawa on Route 47 in the Dorchester section of Maurice River Township and offered him candy if the child left with him, police said. When the boy declined, the man grabbed his arm and tried to abduct him from the Wawa, but the boy escaped, police said.
The man fled the store. He is described as having gray hair, wearing blue jeans and a maroon or burgundy T-shirt, police said. No information was available on his vehicle, police said.
