JC Blake Sartor, 30, was taken into custody about 12:30 p.m. in Kearny Mesa; the shooting left the officer with a serious wound to his right arm
A 30-year-old man suspected of shooting and wounding a San Diego police officer during a chase in City Heights last week has been arrested, police officials announced Wednesday.
At a press conference Wednesday afternoon at Police Headquarters, Nisleit credited “dogged police work” for Sartor’s arrest and thanked a number of department units for their work.“This suspect’s capture is the result of a lot of great police work and tenacity,” Nisleit said. “As I told you last week, we would not stop working this case — we worked around the clock.”The shooting happened about 11:10 a.m. June 8 in a residential area of Chollas Creek, a neighborhood in City Heights.
The officer tried to pull over the truck a few blocks to the south on Wightman Street, but when the driver stopped, he jumped out and ran, police said. The officer chased him, and as they entered an apartment complex, the man pulled out a gun and opened fire.Officers locked down the area and scoured the neighborhood for hours. Police detained one person, but said later he was not the shooter.
