A nonstop cross-country electric vehicle road trip spent nearly a quarter of its time at charging stations.
TFLEV YouTuber Roman Mica and channel partner Nathan Adlen drove from California to Florida in just under 47 hours in a Hyundai Ioniq 5 with all necessary stops coordinated with and conducted during charging times that came to a total of nine hours.“If we had not taken an electric car,” Mica said, acknowledging likely criticism that would say, “You’d probably have been here eight hours earlier — or nine.
“It’s getting old and getting tiring,” Mica said. “We had to drive 12 miles off of I-10 to come up here to Mobile [Alabama’s] Walmart because this is apparently the only fast charger in the area.”They also admitted the trip was complicated by balancing speed with energy use. “The problem, of course, is that when we hit 75 [mph], we keep it, and we pass some vehicles, we’re using more energy so we have to be really frugal with what we’re doing,” Adlen added.CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER
