Scott died after being hit to the face in Rosgill Drive earlier this year
A man who killed another with one blow during a row over the sale of a bike has been jailed for just over four years.
Prosecutor Michael Smith said Petch had been at his mother-in-law's with his partner before going to his father's house and then walking towards his home in Brooklands Lane, Seacroft when he passed by a group in Rosgill Drive.Mr Smith said Petch had seen the group inside and outside a garden and added that he had said in a prepared statement given to police: "He crossed the road left to right which took me closer to them.
It was said Scott left behind his brother, sister, mother and father, but his dad had tragically died following Scott's death. The court heard his mother suffers from short-term memory loss and his siblings are forced to remind her of his death. The court was told Petch had previous convictions on his record for offences including attempted theft, driving offences and battery. His last violent conviction was ten years ago, Mr Smith said. Mitigating, Glenn Parsons said he had indicated a guilty plea to manslaughter at an early stage.
