The attack is the latest in a series of dog attacks both in Merseyside and the UK
Merseyside Police confirmed to the ECHO that officers received a report of a dog attack at around 6.10pm on Saturday, October 7. Officers arrived on Wernbrook Road, Anfield, and found the Staffordshire bull terrier had attacked a Yorkshire terrier.
A neighbour, who witnessed the attack, said several police vehicles arrived at the scene shortly after the attack. He added he could still hear the Staffordshire bull terrier barking inside the owner's home. The breed has been responsible for a number of attacks in recent months and the ECHO has covered them extensively both on the streets and in court. However, other dog breeds have also been responsible for attacks on Merseyside including the American pitbull and huntaway cross. The victims have included children as young as three.
