The man died at around 11 a.m. Sunday near the intersection of 13th Avenue and E. 21st Street, Oakland police said.
Investigators gave no indication Sunday morning for a motive behind the killing. No arrests have been announced.
The shooting represents the 63rd death investigated as a homicide by Oakland police so far this year. At this point last year, Oakland police had investigated 73 homicides. The California Highway Patrol also has investigated four homicides this year on freeways within city limits. A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest.
