A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a ‘much-loved’ rugby player outside a Cornwall nightclub last weekend.
The 24-year-old spoke only to confirm his name and date of birth, with no application for bail made., 32, three counts of attempted murder and two counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.in the Cornish town at around 3.15am on Sunday.
He died at the scene, while seven other people were taken to hospital for treatment after sustaining injuries in the attack. Earlier today, Devon and Cornwall Police said six of those injured had been discharged and one remained in hospital following surgery. In a statement, Mr Allen’s family said: ‘Mike was simply a much-loved son, brother, grandson and uncle, who loved his dogs.’Bodmin Rugby Club also paid tribute, saying he had joined earlier this season ‘and quickly became a big part of our squad’.Detectives said they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the attack.Anyone with any information is asked to contact Devon and Cornwall Police on the Major Incident Public Reporting site, under Operation Limbas.
