BREAKING: Houston police have charged a man with murder in the shooting death of Migos rapper Takeoff.
during a Nov. 1 shooting in downtown Houston, Chief Troy Finner said during a news conference.
The Atlanta rapper was killed as a disagreement erupted following a private party at a downtown bowling alley. Police detective Michael Burrow said Takeoff was an innocent bystander in the shooting and was not armed. Finner identified a man charged with murder as 33-year-old Patrick Xavier Clark as being involved in the fatal shooting. He did not specify where Clark lives other than to say he was apprehended in east Houston.A man who witnessed Takeoff’s shooting is already facing gun possession charges, but his attorney contends he is by no means responsible for killing the musician.
Police identified Cameron Joshua, 22, as having attended the party where Takeoff, whose real name was Kirsnick Khari Ball, was shot and killed. Investigators believe he was among the dozens who witnessed his death outside the third-floor 810 Billiards & Bowling business, prosecutors said.Friday’s news conference is the first substantial update about the fatal shooting in a month, when investigators offered scant detail during the initial investigation.
Police encouraged that witnesses continue to come forward about the shooting as the investigation continues.Annie Mulligan/Contributor
