Several shootings over the weekend resulted in one woman killed early Sunday in Southeast Washington, police said.
A 52-year-old woman was fatally shot in her home early Sunday in Southeast Washington after a six-hour stretch that saw at least four nonfatal shootings reported in the District.
Shortly before 4 a.m., officers were called to the 4000 block of 13th Street SE for a reported shooting. They found Patricia Johnson suffering from gunshot wounds inside her home. Johnson died at the scene, police said.Investigators charged Desmond Thurston, 46, of Southeast Washington with first-degree murder while armed in the case. They termed the incident “domestic in nature.
About a half-hour earlier, a man was found in the 1400 block of M Street NW at Thomas Circle. He was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, police said, and was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. Police had sent out an alert via social media for four males wearing hoodies, with one on a bicycle who wears braces.
