Attempted murder, attempted robbery and other charges have been filed against a Union City man in a Nov. 12 Fremont shooting where the victim was lured to the site.
FREMONT — A Union City man has been charged with attempted murder, attempted robbery and other crimes in a Nov. 12 shooting of man with whom he had set up a meeting by telling him he wanted to photograph him, according to authorities and court records.Besides attempted murder and attempted robbery, the 24-year-old suspect was also charged with possession of an assault weapon and evading police. All four charges are felonies.
According to court records, the victim, who said he was a music artist on social media, said he had recently been contacted by the suspect, who claimed to be a photographer and wanted to do a photo shoot with him. After several emails and phone coversations the men agreed to meet for a photo shoot on School Street, the records say.
As soon as the victim got to the meeting site, the suspect told the victim to give up his property “or I will kill you,” according to the records. The suspect then shot the victim in the stomach; the pair began struggling and fell to the pavement. The victim said the suspect put the gun to his head but he was able push it away before the suspect ran off, the records say.
