UK news: Man, 79, arrested on suspicion of murder after woman found dead with 'gunshot wound'
A woman was found dead with gunshot wounds on Merseyside in the early hours of the morning, police have said. A 79-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
Police were called around 1.45am to an address in Meadowbrook Road, Moreton, Merseyside, where a woman in her 50s was found unresponsive. She was pronounced dead at the scene with a gunshot wound to her chest. The man is known to the victim, police say, and is currently being questioned by police. A murder investigation has been launched with a cordon still in place.Chief Inspector Derek Riley said: “Although a man has been arrested following the tragic death of this woman in Moreton we are still in the very early stages of our investigation and enquiries into the incident are still ongoing in the area.
