Skelmersdale man admits kidnap of mum found seriously injured in car with baby
A man is facing a lengthy prison sentence after admitting kidnap, GBH and intentional strangulation of a woman in Skelmersdale.
Police were called to reports of a missing woman in the early hours of November 14, 2022. The woman was later found seriously injured in a car in Merseyside. A baby was also in the car but was unharmed. The driver, Nathaniel Corkish, 31, of Lindale, Skelmersdale, was arrested at the scene.He appeared before Preston Crown Court today where he pleaded guilty to the three offences. The court heard he intentionally wounded the woman as well as strangling her to the extent her breathing was restricted.
Judge Richard Gioserano said a lengthy custodial sentence is inevitable but asked for a pre-sentence report to be prepared to assess whether or not Corkish is a dangerous offender who poses a risk to the public.Read the latest from the courts
