Two people have been arrested after 5 people OD'd at a mall, one fatally.
The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office is launching an investigation into a death resulting from a suspected fentanyl overdose at a local mall. Officials say there's a fentanyl crisis in Bergen County.Authorities are launching an investigation into the death of a woman who overdosed on suspected fentanyl in a Bergen County, N.J., mall last week and sounding the alarm on what they describe as a fentanyl crisis.
Two people have been arrested and charged with narcotic-related offenses thus far as part of the investigation, Jason Love, chief of detectives with Bergen County prosecutor’s office, said during a press briefing on Friday. Garfield Jones, 48, is charged with third-degree possession with the intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance and third-degree possession of a controlled substance.
Robert McCrae, 52, is charged with third-degree possession with the intent to distribute less than a half-ounce of heroin and fourth-degree possession with the intent to distribute drug paraphernalia. Jones and McCrae, both from Paterson, are being held in the Bergen County Jail pending a first court appearance. As of late Friday, they have not been charged or implicated in the mall overdose death.five coworkers found unconscious at the Shops at Riverside mall in HackensackThe women were revived using Narcan and CPR, and four of the five were taken to a local hospital for treatment, according to a statement from the Hackensack Police Department. The fifth woman refused transport.
