Blizzard warnings have been posted for parts of the Plains.
Diaz is producing snow in the northern, central and southern Rockies right now. Rainfall is spreading from Southern California into lower elevations of the Southwest.4 to 5 feet were measured in the Tahoe region.
Monday night into Tuesday, heavy snow and increasing winds will overspread parts of eastern Montana, eastern Wyoming, northeast Colorado, western Nebraska, the Dakotas and Minnesota. Snow and gusty winds could last through Wednesday or even Thursday from eastern Montana and eastern Wyoming through the Dakotas and the upper Midwest, diminishing slowly from west to east.A foot or more of snow is expected in the Northern Plains, including western Nebraska, much of South Dakota as well as parts of North Dakota, eastern Montana and eastern Wyoming.
That's important because as moisture from the storm begins to override that cold air, some snow, sleet or freezing rain could break out in parts of the East as soon as late Wednesday or Thursday.
