Apple is following the trend of other major smartphone companies by expanding the scope of its bug-bounty program – opening it up to all security researchers:
to pore over code to find errors, but identifying issues — especially ones that could lead to major problems like network infiltration or zero-touch attacks — often require human eyes. To that end, companies are launching and expanding bug-bounty programs to give researchers greater incentive to examine their code for potential vulnerabilities that could be exploited. The company's bug-bounty program now encompasses its phones, smartwatches, computers, TV streaming devices, and cloud service, and will offer a maximum reward of up to $1 million.
