The victim remains in hospital
A man has been taken to hospital after suffering serious head injuries in an attack in Mansfield. Newgate Lane remains shut in both directions due to the police incident between Redcliffe Road and Sandy Lane.
Detectives said the 28-year-old victim was attacked after being followed by a group in the Newgate Lane area. Investigations are currently ongoing and the attack is believed to have happened at around 9:30pm on Monday . The male victim remains in hospital where he is in a serious condition. Officers have launched an appeal for information and asked witnesses to come forward.Detective Inspector Luke Todd, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Our enquiries are ongoing into this assault, including checking CCTV footage, and we are urging anyone who saw what happened to please get in touch with us.
Anyone with any information should call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident 775 of July 18 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
