A major chain of nursing homes and senior communities is now requiring all employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19 to keep their jobs.
The Genesis decision is significant, the AP says, because many of the 15,000-some senior care facilities in the United States have not required. The companies worry that large numbers of workers would resign in protest at a time when many nursing homes are already understaffed.
. About 80% of nursing home residents have been vaccinated, double the rate for nursing home staff members.
