Managers say it will allow it to form a 'leading position' in the sector
A major Nottingham-based food wholesaler has acquired one of its current competitors in a deal which managers say will allow it to form a 'leading position' in the sector. Hopwells, headquartered in Bilborough, is the UK's largest independent, family-owned frozen food wholesalers and it has six distribution centres across the country.
The Windsor Foodservice, meanwhile, has become known for its artisan patisserie offering. Tristan Hopwell, the Managing Director of Hopwells, said: "Hopwells is an independent family business which prides itself on its traditional family values."Windsor is also a family business, and we both celebrate the successes our family ethos brings to our customers.
Pete Whitehead, current CEO of Windsor Foodservice, who will be retiring said: "Our business is in great shape, and I am proud of the achievements made over the last 34 years. I started this business in my garage at home with just four chest freezers and have thoroughly enjoyed the journey, developing it into what we have now.
