M6 red X warning as 40 drivers to face court after ignoring gantry instructions near Preston
If you drove through the scene of a collision on the M6 over the bank holiday weekend, you may be hearing from the police very soon.
If this applies to you, then you may receive something in the post in the next couple of weeks. The force has said that while a road closure can be inconvenient, being reported for driving offences 'is probably worse'.The matrix signs were in place after two collisions close to junction 31 of the M6 happened within a few minutes of each other, on opposite sides of the motorway. The first occurred on the southbound carriageway at 12.
The matrix signs were clearly displaying a red 'X' to indicate lane closures. Despite this, several drivers were captured on CCTV continuing through the scene, with some also on their mobile phones as they went past.
