The serial baby killer, who is serving a whole life order, filed a bid to challenge her conviction last week
Lucy Letby may have murdered three more babies during her career as a neo-natal nurse, an expert prosecution witness has claimed.
READ MORE: This is the senior judge who will lead the inquiry into how hospital trust bosses handled concerns about Lucy Letby Dr Dewi Evans, who gave expert evidence against the neo-natal nurse, told the podcast: "Initially, I looked at 32 cases and there are seven of those [which were not part of the trial] that need more scrutiny.
Letby's actions took place while working as a neonatal nurse at the Countess of Chester Hospital, with the incidents taking place between June 2015 and June 2016. Letby, from Hereford, injected her tiny innocent victims with air and poisoned them with insulin. "They go back to 2012, although most date back to June 2014 – 12 months prior to the first fatality," he said. "I found several cases that are highly suspicious where an endotracheal tube – placed in a baby's throat when they need breathing support – had been displaced, had come out.
Cheshire Police confirmed they are reviewing medical notes of 4,000 babies admitted to the neo-natal units of the Countess of Chester Hospital and Liverpool Women's Hospital, spanning Letby's five-year nursing career.
