Loyal players know Sunday night's USL Championship playoff match at Torero Stadium could be the club's last
San Diego Loyal SC veteran Collin Martin walked off the pitch Friday afternoon after a training session sporting a rustic beard only a hockey player would love. 'Not shaving until we lose,' Martin said 'And I don’t plan on shaving.' The razors won’t possibly come out until late Sunday evening, at the earliest, after the Loyal host Phoenix Rising in a USL playoff match at a sold-out Torero Stadium.
A victory would advance San Diego to either a home match next week against seventh-seeded El Paso or a road match at second-seeded Orange County. “It would mean a lot,” said Loyal forward Adrien Perez, who scored 10 goals during the regular season. “A memory of a lifetime. And not just the players. The supporters. The coaches. The training staff. We all want to finish as champions. What better way to go. It would mean a lot to everyone.
