Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards tells residents who fled the state amid Hurricane Ida to stay away until officials with the state’s Homeland Security & Emergency Management office say it’s safe to return.

Highways and backroads across the Pelican State are a minefield of downed trees and power lines as the stranded could be stuck for days. Entergy New Orleans said once the assessment of the hurricane's damage to the power grid is complete, it can start providing estimated restoration times.
