, has received the ‘Community ACTive Citizenship Award’ for various actions to support those fleeing the conflict in Ukraine., Eden has made charity tealights, packed boots, clothes, coats, toiletries, baby supplies and blankets for delivery to the border of Poland and Ukraine and donated funds from her piggy bank to a friend of the family to buy food and drink for refugees.
ACT Chief Executive Liz Moorse said: “Eden’s project is an exemplary example of taking action for a cause that has impacted many. “Eden has not only researched into the conflict, but her actions have also raised awareness across her community and inspired others to support her. “The huge donation she has achieved for her chosen cause is a mark of her hard work and determination.”The Association for Citizenship Teaching set up The ACTive Citizenship Award Scheme to celebrate and acknowledge positive social changes children make in their community through active citizenship.She has developed a sophisticated understanding of the conflict and a ‘superb grasp’ of citizenship terminology, including refugee, human rights, democracy, and dictatorship.
Headteacher Mr Eccleston said that he and the rest of the school staff were all ‘incredibly proud’ of her.
