A baggage handler said they were delivering '70 to 80 bags a day'
An airline baggage handler says they are seeing a huge rise in the amount of 'lost luggage' they are having to deliver from the Belfast airports.
"It means the airlines are running over capacity and that's why you're seeing so many cancellations." The baggage industry insider added that they were able to check the number of items that were being recorded as lost and the difference was stark. "People deal with the new stuff first, so say your bag is from June 16 - that wasn't dealt with because the staff are getting overwhelmed by the bags that are getting lost today.
"They didn't gear up properly for people returning to travel and the horse has bolted a bit with that now, where they're running over capacity," they said."Like airports aren't really designed to deal with lost luggage, most don't have a designated space for it."
