The Los Gatos party mom accused of hosting drunken sex-fueled parties for her teen son and his high school friends wants a judge to tell her what her sentence would be if she pleaded guilty as charged.
But Deputy District Attorney Rebekah Wise said that O’Connor has instead asked Judge Elizabeth C. Peterson to tell her what sentence she’d receive if she were to plead guilty instead. O’Connor will return to court Friday, where the District Attorney will present witness testimony for the judge to consider in deciding a sentence.
Because judges don’t decide what charges prosecutors bring, O’Connor’s only option is to plead to all the charges she now faces. But the defense may be hoping a judge will appreciate O’Connor accepting responsibility and be more merciful, and given she’s already spent a year and a half in the county jail, it could get her closer to a release date rather than having to wait to try her case.
At least four of the women charged with attacking O’Connor have since pleaded no contest to the assault charges, for which they were sentenced to one to two years, court records show.
