Former Carlisle Fire Chief David Boyles died Tuesday. He was 74.
Starting as a “Junior Sparky” at the now-defunct Cumberland Fire Company in the 1960s. Boyles spent most of his youth and adult life in the fire service, and was believed to have been the longest-tenured chief in Carlisle Borough’s history, serving from 1983 through 2006.
