Texas coach Steve Sarkisian said he learned a lot in first trip to Dallas for annual game with Oklahoma last season.AUSTIN – Texas coach Steve Sarkisian’s initial impression of the Red River rivalry was typical of anyone making their first voyage through the teeming fairgrounds surrounding the Cotton Bowl.
The initial novelty and luster had fully dulled by the time Sarkisian boarded Texas’ bus for the return trip to Austin last October. Blowing a 28-7 first quarter lead and losing to your rival on a last-second touchdown can have that sort of numbing effect. “For me coming out of the game, the one thing that we need to understand is the way the stands are split, one end of the game is a home game,” Sarkisian said Monday following practice. “On the other end of the field, it’s a road game. And I think you need to handle that accordingly. So I think we’ll adjust some things there and the way we approach it, especially offensively.”
