Londoner creates map of pubs near to queue for seeing Queen lying in state for those waiting up to eight hours
London has been dominated by enormous queues the past few days as people flock to see the Queen lying in state. The line has stretched for miles at times with hours of waiting to get to the Palace of Westminster.
Using the now familiar map of the queue for the palace seen online and on TV she has illustrated 13 pubs people could pop into if they get thirsty during their long wait. This starts off at The Angel, at Southwark Park, near the designated end of the queue should it be at capacity. It ends at Waterloo Tap near Waterloo station with 11 stops in-between. With reported queues for up to eight hours, this thorough map is sure to come in handy for many.
There were fears queues could be up to 30-hours long as people file through the Palace of Westminster to pay their respects, but this has not come true yet. There is a live tracker online for people to see how long the queue stretches and where to join. The lying in state at the Palace of Westminster opened to the public at 5pm on Wednesday, September 14, although some people began to queue before then hoping to secure their spot. The queue will be open for 24 hours a day until it closes at 6.30am on Monday, September 19.
