A London man has been jailed at St Albans Crown Court after 'routinely assaulting' his Watford-based partner.
A 29-year-old man has been jailed after"routinely assaulting" his Watford-based partner, who"feared for her life".
Aimen Mawia - from London Road in London - appeared at St Albans Crown Court last Tuesday , where he was sentenced to two-and-a-half years imprisonment for coercive and controlling behaviour. Mawia had previously pleaded guilty to the offences, which took place between July 1, 2022 and February 12, 2023.Mawia was handed a 31-month sentence for coercive and controlling behaviour, a week's imprisonment for possession of cannabis and two months for obstruction of a police officer.
He was also given a restraining order to protect the victim, which could see him return to prison if breached."She was brave enough to disclose what had happened months after the incidents occurred, so we were able to work with her to move her to a place of safety.”We want our comments to be a lively and valuable part of our community - a place where readers can debate and engage with the most important local issues.
