A Lombard police officer was justified when he shot and killed an armed robbery suspect in December, DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said Thursday.
The shooting happened around 4 p.m. Dec. 8 when Postal, a six-year Lombard police veteran, and another police officer responded to an armed robbery at a smoke shop at 54 W. Roosevelt Road.When Postal saw Thompson run next to his car, he yelled"hands" to order the suspect to show his hands. According to Berlin, Postal said he felt vulnerable lying by the car door and being unable to move, and he thought Thompson was going to kill him or his partner.
