Local residents in Chorlton have shared their opinions on the ambitious plans to demolish the 1970s shopping centre and create a new thriving retail hub. The plans, which include over 200 homes and modern retail spaces, have received over 1,000 responses during the initial consultation. The main points raised in the responses highlight the desire for a diverse retail offer, including independent businesses, as well as the need for new affordable housing. The redevelopment is eagerly awaited by the local community.

It is understood that Graeme House, an office block beside the Chorlton Cross centre, and the existing shopping precinct would all be knocked down in order to enable a better layout of the site.
Georgina Lynch, the managing director at PJ Livesey Group which is delivering the redevelopment, said: “We have had a busy time since being appointed in the spring and are hugely grateful to every single person who responded to the first consultation. The feedback was important and we hope to launch the next phase of consultation shortly.”
