Cheney will join the Center for Politics at the University of Virginia, the school announced Wednesday. The Wyoming Republican was ousted in her GOP primary by an opponent endorsed by Donald Trump after months of clashes with the former president and party leadership.
Whitt Clement, rector of the University of Virginia Board of Visitors, called Cheney"a strong conservative who never hesitates to put honesty ahead of all other considerations" and"a model of leadership not just for the students at the University of Virginia but for all people concerned for the wellbeing of this country."

Cheney lost her 2022 reelection bid to now-Rep. Harriet Hageman . She wasted no time in forming a new political action committee called"The Great Task" to stand against Trump as he tries to reclaim the White House in 2024. Cheney is considered a possible contender for the presidency in 2024 as well, saying in August that she is"thinking" about a bid.
Former Rep. Adam Kinzinger , who also voted to impeach Trump and served on the Jan. 6 panel, recently became a political commentator at CNN.
