Liverpool released the statement on Sunday evening following 24 hours of controversy as PGMOL admitted 'human errors' were to blame for the VAR failures against Spurs
Liverpool have declared the explanation for the incorrect decision to disallow Luis Diaz's goal at Tottenham Hotspur as "unacceptable" and believe the incident undermined sporting integrity.
The ECHO understands PGMOL chief Howard Webb reached out to Liverpool b to offer an apology for the disallowed goal after the final whistle, with a review now taking place over the incident. But the Reds, while accepting the circumstances are wholly unprecedented, are unhappy with the reasoning given for the mistake and regard the situation as one in which the laws of the game were not applied and the correct outcome achieved due to a failure of VAR protocols.
“It is therefore unsatisfactory that sufficient time was not afforded to allow the correct decision to be made and that there was no subsequent intervention. “In the meantime, we will explore the range of options available, given the clear need for escalation and resolution.”
