Leeds miss out on Celtic starlet Ben Doak as Liverpool beat them for his signature LUFC LFC
Liverpool have secured the services of highly-rated teenager Ben Doak from Celtic for a compensation fee of around £600,000.
The 16-year-old was linked with a move to Anfield for weeks, and has now secured his transfer to Merseyside.The winger is regarded as one of the brightest talents to progress from theEarlier this week, Doak netted a hat-trick for Scotland Under-17s and helped them qualify for the European Championships.reports Celtic have banked a £600,00 compensation fee for the player who hadn’t yet signed a professional deal at Parkhead.
Bhoys manager Ange Postecoglou was a huge fan of Doak, having given him his senior debut off the bench against Dundee United earlier this campaign.The winger, who can also play as a full-back, had been lined up for a big future at Celtic Park.
It’s a similar move to the one that saw the Reds land Harvey Elliott from Fulham, who has gone on to feature for the first-time on many occasions this term. The Athletic’s report adds Leeds were keen on landing Doak, and had appeared to offer him more lucrative terms, but the Scotland youth international’s heart was set on a move to Anfield.Meanwhile, Doak is likely to be joined at Liverpool’s AXA Training Centre next season by Trent Kone-Doherty, a 15-year-old who currently plays with Derry City. report Klopp’s side are the clear front-runners for his signature.
