A press conference is ongoing at the local Garda station with the latest details on the tragedy in Creeslough
Irish premier Micheal Martin paid tribute the emergency services responding to the incident at Creeslough, Co Donegal.
I think the entire nation is shocked at what has happened, it's an unspeakable tragedy. Our thoughts and our payers, our hearts go out to the people of Creeslough," he told reporters in Cork. "There were blocks thrown a hundred yards away from the scene. The whole front of the building collapsed... and the roof of the first floor collapsed down into the shop. It's a miracle they got anyone out. Eight people were transferred to hospital."
"I also want to express our sympathies to those families who have been bereaved in the tragic events in Donegal yesterday afternoon and those injured as a result of this explosion are foremost in our thoughts," he said. In a statement Mr Barrett said: "Yesterday was a very dark day for Creeslough, for Donegal, for Ireland, and for all of us in the wider Applegreen family.
"The Applegreen in Creeslough is at the very heart of the village and contains the local post office and supermarket. "I would like to raise as much funds as possible to help the families of the deceased and injured through these challenging times ahead."Rest In Peace to the lives lost."A Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service Spokesperson said: “NIFRS extend their thoughts and sympathies to the victims, the families and loved ones, and the wider community impacted by the unfolding tragedy in Creeslough, County Donegal.
