Unlike previous elections, the race for mayor will likely be an afterthought for most voters who will be focused on the more competitive district seats. As usual, the race drew several challengers, but the eight people running against Mayor Ron Nirenberg don't appear to be a serious threat to the incumbent, who has over $330,000 headed into the campaign season.
Proposition A would amend the city charter to decriminalize marijuana and abortion, meaning that police would be prohibited from enforcing possession of 4 ounces or less of marijuana possession and abortion-related crimes. It would ban police from using chokeholds and ban police from obtaining no-knock search warrants and serving no-knock warrants with other law enforcement agenices.
