Crews were called to Samuel Street at around 2.40am
Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service has 40 firefighters, eight officers, and six fire engines at the scene. They are being supported by aerial platforms and the command support unit.Local families are being asked to keep their windows closed as the incident rages on. It is currently unclear what started the blaze.
A PSNI spokesperson said: "Motorists and the public are advised of multiple road closures in Belfast City Centre this morning, Wednesday 31"Roads are closed at North Street, Millfield, Union Street, Royal Avenue, Gresham Street and Winetavern Street.A Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "We were called to a derelict building fire at Samuel Street in Belfast at 2.40am on Wednesday, May 31.
