Police have issued a new statement on the major response
A police cordon is in place on a Leeds street after a 'hand grenade' was found at a home inRamshead Drive and Ramshead Approach are closed off as officers are waiting for a bomb disposal unit to arrive.
A resident who spoke with the police said her children could not get into the home and says that a device was found in a property at the bottom of Ramshead Approach adjoining Ramshead Drive.West Yorkshire Police are on the scene and the full length of the road is closed. Residents can only get access on footsteps behind shops on the street at the top of the hill.
Local resident Emma said: "The full length of Ramshead Drive is blocked off you can access on foot up the steps behind Ramshead shops it's right at the top of the hill. "I've spoke with the police because my children couldn't access our home. They said it was explosive devices found in a property it's at the bottom of Ramshead Approach adjoining with Ramshead Drive"
West Yorkshire Police have confirmed they are in attendance and have added the EOD is on its way to assess the 'hand grenade'. We will be bringing you all the latest updates on this breaking news story as and when we get them.
