Ian Wright announces he will not be presenting Match of the Day after Gary Lineker stepped back from his role
The BBC have announced Gary Lineker will be ‘stepping back’ from his Match of the Day presenting duties.
However, amid the impartiality row, a spokesperson for the BBC said: “The BBC has been in extensive discussions with Gary and his team in recent days.Advertisement Lineker’s co-star Ian Wright was quick to show his support on social media after the announcement, saying he will not feature on this Saturday’s show.: “Everybody knows what Match of the Day means to me, but I’ve told the BBC I won’t be doing it tomorrow. Solidarity.”He and Lineker form a common presenting trio with Alan Shearer: “I have never known such love and support in my life than I’m getting this morning [England World Cup goals aside, possibly].
