What Lincolnshire MPs had to say about Boris Johnson as Parliament voted on a damning report
During an explosive Parliamentary debate which saw ex-Prime Minister Boris Johnson sanctioned, several Lincolnshire MPs backed him to the last. All other Lincolnshire MPs except Scunthorpe representative Holly Mumby-Croft abstained from the vote. She voted in favour of the sanctions.
Before the vote, a debate was held inside the House of Commons to allow MPs to voice their opinions and make their voting intentions known. By far the most intense debate involving a Lincolnshire MP came when Lia Nici took a stand and gave her view on proceedings. “The reality is that there are some people who had parties. Sadly, those people were unelected officials, who still should have stood by making sure they weren’t putting ministers in potentially difficult situations by advising them incorrectly.
“It is a kind of political opportunism for those people who don’t like Boris Johnson’s approach, don’t like Boris Johnson’s policies, don’t like Boris Johnson’s plan”, Great Grimsby’s MP declares. “My concern is that a process which does allow Parliamentarians to remove other Parliamentarians who have been duly elected, without a clear prior guidance on where those thresholds lie, could lead to suspicion of political motivation.
“Firstly, I’d like to say I do have respect for my colleagues and indeed some my friends who make up the committee who’ve taken on an unenviable job, with a highly politically-charged decision, and I’m sure have given that their full due diligence over quite a long period.
