A Lidl worker who stole more than £800 has been ordered to pay it back in full
A Lidl worker who stole more than £800 has been ordered to pay it back in full. Shannon Mansbridge, 25, appeared in court accused of stealing £829.87 from the Manchester shop between April and June 2022.
Manchester Magistrates Court heard how the cashier started working in Lidl in March and had been stealing cash by ‘voiding’ receipts when she was given the correct change by customers. Defence solicitor Wajid Manzoor told how Mansbridge took the money in order to pay back debt she had accrued due to the ‘actions’ of her sister who had taken loans out in her name.
Manchester Evening News reports she owed one debt of £800 and another for over £1500. The court heard Mansbridge now has a new job working five days a week and is paying back the debt with the help of her mum. Mr Manzoor also told the court Mansbridge now understands stealing ‘was not the right way to pay off debt' and told her former employer she was willing to pay the money back. She pleaded guilty and was given a 12 month community order by magistrates which includes 40 hours unpaid work.Top news stories today Don't miss the latest news from around Scotland and beyond - sign up to our daily newsletter here.
