LG has unveiled its flagship soundbar for 2022
You can, of course, connect your consoles directly to one of LG’s latest OLED TVs, most of which carry four 4K/120Hz-capable HDMIs, to enjoy 4K/120Hz graphics, and then output the sound, including Dolby Atmos soundtracks, via HDMI eARC . But this approach can sometimes cause a few issues, especially where lag is concerned, and there are now rival soundbar models emerging, such as the Sony HT-A7000, that do support 4K/120Hz loopthrough.
The S95QR also features a more sensitive Wi-Fi receiver, so it’s less likely that users will experience drop outs or lagging from any of the system’s speakers. The extra wi-fi sensitivity should help the soundbar work in bigger rooms, too. In fact, LG claims the effective transmission distance between the soundbar and the rears has increased to just over 100 feet from the previous system’s 62 feet.
LG’s ongoing collaboration with Meridian Audio for its premium soundbars has resulted on the S95QR in a Meridian Audio Horizon mode capable of upconverting even basic stereo music to 7.1 mixes, to take advantage of the soundbar’s available channels.The S95QR can be controlled via a variety of voice recognition systems, including Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, and supports high quality streaming from the leading music services.
